Vintage Cochiti Pueblo Indian Miniature Traditional Cottonwood Drum, Circa Late 1900's
This small handmade drum is constructed from a hollowed out cottonwood log with the two headsaffixed and rawhide laced in the traditional Cochiti manner. Drum makers from Cochiti Pueblo are renownedfor their skill and generally supply the traditional drums of all sizes to the other Pueblos. This moderatelyold example was probably made as a toy but is very well made and functional. Please note the two rawhide loops for carrying.
Dimensions: 3-5/8" tall, Top & Bottom: 3-3/4" x 3-1/8"- slightly oval
Condition: Excellent with no damage to leather or wooden parts (see photos).
