This one-of-a-kind unique, vintage amplifier vacuum tube, made by Federal Telegraph Company, USA, is from the early 1930\'s. It was used by the WTMJ Radio Station, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, broadcasting on 620 AM. It was decommissioned in the 1950\'s based on when the tube was \"degassed\" - appearing to be 4/16/5X.
This vacuum tube has patent numbers of 1,974,305 and 1,940,87X shown on the top metal bracket of the device. The \"305\" patent is shown and is dated Sept. 18, 1934.
All of the glass elements in this tube, internal and external, have NO CRACKS or other flaws. The internal metal components also show no sign of corrosion or breakage.
From top to bottom this tube assembly measures 20\". The glass tube itself is 4\" in diameter. It weighs about 4 pounds. One can only imagine the size of the amplifier and broadcasting equipment this vacuum tube was originally part of!
Truly a piece of broadcasting history!
