Very Rare - CIVIL WAR Harmonica Reed Remnants - Dug - HOHNER?:
USA SALES ONLY. SORRY.
This is primarily the reed remnants of aHARMONICAwhich was dug from aCIVIL WARbattlefieldwhich I purchased perhaps 32 years ago. You can see the condition in the photos. It is extremely rare to find these remnants as intact as you see here.
Harmonica's were invented in 1820's and first introduced into the United States in the mid 1800's.Many weremade by German artisans, and brought here. When the Civil War broke out, soldiers of both sideswere known to use these as means of passing away the long hours away when not in battle andable to do so.I believe this must have been a HOHNER harmonica judging from the reed and end configurations andcomparing the one advertised withthe photo of Abraham Lincoln, who had one before becoming president.
(Sorry, I do not recall the battlefield but believe it was at Chancellorsville since I have many dugitems from there - see these under my listings).
