John Lennon\'s 1958 Rickenbacker 325 Capri

Purchased inHamburgin 1960 it was finished in natural wood with a gold pick guard and used a Kauffman Vibrola tailpiece. Used exclusively for the next four years in studio recordings and live shows, this is the guitar John was playing when The Beatles made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.Following the group’s second visit toHamburgin 1961, this 325 underwent major changes when John had a Bigsby vibrato and bow tie bridge fitted.By 1962 Brian Epstein was improving the group’s stage appearance and had them change to matching suits, matching amps and eventually matching black guitars and with this in mind John had his 325 painted gloss black and completed the change with a set of Hofner control knobs.The first public performance in black was on October 12th1962 at The Tower Ballroom inNew class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\">Size 420mm x 297mm (16.54\" x 11.69\")
