Carlsbad is my second guitar clock. Glendale was the first. I started with a solid paulownia wood strat body, and sanded it smooth all over. I then dyed it a nice ocean blue, and applied an enamel/oil finish. When that had cured sufficiently, I loaded it up with a tremolo bridge--whammy bar included, but the bridge is blocked. That way the bridge stays in place. I also added a chrome output jack, and not one, but two neck plates! One for each side.
Then there's the pickguard. I painted the pickguard with both enamel and lacquer. Did a little magic, and--well, just look at the pix! Fading multicolored crackle. Gorgeous. The pickguard is also mounted with 3 buttons, 2 knobs and a lever switch. They're all functional, in that the pushbuttons push, the knobs turn, and even the lever switch switches. I placed the birch hour markers, then mounted a high torque, non-ticking clock movement. It runs on one AA battery, which I am unable to include. Finally, I installed the hand painted sword type hands.
I name all of my clocks after places, in lieu of serial numbers. Carlsbad is the name of two communities--one in CA and the other in NM, that I have visited. Buy Carlsbad today--somebody else is looking at this listing with a hungry expression on their face!
