Here\'s a beautiful Magnavox AC-3 amplifier manufactured in Oakland CA in the early 1920\'s. The amp is working and comes with three good brass base tipped rainbow 01A tubes.
Condition of the amp is excellent, as you can see in the pictures. Glossy, undamaged bakelite panel; clean, straight, rust-free chassis; excellent original cabinet decal with virtually no wear evident on it; original cabinet finish, etc. There\'s some brassing in areas on the nickeled fittings consistent with the nickel plating\'s age and authenticity.
Original transformers, original rheostats, original binding post nuts, original switches, etc.
As you can see in the video I\'ve posted, all 3 amplifier stages are working properly, and when each stage is engaged, it steps the amplification up significantly, particularly the final stage, which is sufficient to power the little Philmore crystal radio that\'s providing its input to the point where it can be heard throughout our entire house. As you can also see and hear in the video, the output is clear, with good dynamics.
When hookedup to an appropriate DC power supply (such as an ARBEIII) and an appropriate input source (such as a 1920\'s battery radio or an early crystal radio) the amplifier will power virtually any high impedance 1920\'s horn or cone loudspeaker.
Please note: in the video, the amp is being demonstrated with a crystal radio and a vintage Magnavox loudspeaker. You are purchasing the amplifier and rainbow tubes only.
