Greatearly recording by the ROYAL MARINE BAND of Italy

Around the turn of the century, Ferruccio Giannini, an operatic tenor and impresario
imported sixty Musicians from Italy to form the Royal Marine Band of Italy, with which he was the tenor soloist. The man he brought over to conduct the band was Giuseppe Creatore whose successful career in American band music started with Giannini\'s Band. The band played at Young\'s Pier, the Steel Pier in Atlantic City and other major East Coast venues.

Ferruccio Giannini (Tenor) (Ponte d\'Arnia, Italy 1868 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1948)
At the age of seventeen he emigrated to USA. In Boston he took singing lessons from Eleodoro De Campi. In 1891 Giannini made his debut in Boston and from 1892 to 1894 undertook an America tour with the Mapleson Opera Company. Then he lived in Philadelphia and appeared in opera and concert performances in the USA and also taught singing. He opened in Philadelphia a small theatre in which he organized operas and concerts with his pupils. Married the violinist Antonietta Briglia. His daughter was the famous opera singer Dusolina Giannini. Giannini was the founder of the Verdi Opera House in Philadelphia. He was the first “serious” operatic artist to make recordings, for Berliner in 1896, and later for Victor and Zonophone.

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
\"EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET\" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
\"VERY QUIET\" is anabove averagequiet record for a given pressing.
\"Quiet\" is a record that is a great example with some noise.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
