Offering 8 Track Tape Repair Service of your unplayable 8 track tapes. You mail them to me and I will restore them back to like new playing condition including installation of new foam or felt pads, new foil splice, pinch roller and inner spindle cleaning and tension adjustment. During the restoration service, your tapes are play tested to assure they are perfect. I cut no corners and will give your tape(s) a full internal restoration as if I were adding them to my own collection.

  • Quantity of the sale is the number of 8 track tapes you will be shipping to me for repair.
  • After you make your purchase, I will message you with my address so you can mail your tapes to me via USPS Media Mail at your cost. I will reach out to you when your tape(s) are received and begin the restoration process.
  • Shipping Costs - Buyer pays a $4.75 Media Mail flat rate for the first tape and 30 cents for each additional tape (this cost is for the return of the tapes to you). Initial Media Mail shipment costs are paid by buyer when tapes are mailed to me.
  • Some cartridges will need small cuts on the labels to access the interior for repairs….(what were the manufacturers thinking?) But I will contact you before I proceed on these types of tapes so we have an understanding. I try to be very careful with my cuts so they are barely visible.
  • Possible Additional Charges - Some tapes are very time consuming to repair depending on the degree of damage. Issues such as melted pinch rollers and wrinkled tape (which needs to be ironed out) are examples in which additional charges may occur. If any of these and other issues are found I will contact you concerning the issues. Sometimes a tape cannot be repaired and I will refund you the cost of repair minus the return Media Mail charges.
  • Handling Time - Total turnaround time could take 30 days due to the Postal Service’s Media Mail protocol. Media Mail is the most cost efficient method for mailing audiotapes but could take upwards to 14 days to receive. The restoration service itself takes about 2 days.
