Just take a look at the detail and quality evident in the chassis and panel. Beautifully made .. precise machine work and wiring ... built to a far higher standard than later sets ... they reflect the early military applications of wireless rather than the consumer use they were intended for. The DA was the Detector and Amplifier element of the two piece RA/DA radio that Westinghouse introduced for sale in 1921. A later version .. the RC combined both units in one cabinet.
The RA tuner and DA detector amplifier were pioneering components -- the 1st tuner and detector/amplifier designed explicitly to receive commercial broadcasts when KDKA was launched in late 1920! This is a decent, clean example of the RA .... front panel is near perfect with the original knobs .. clean inside and there is where the \"Project part\" begins. The tube strip has been unwired from the set [loose wires are labeled for easier assembly however] and one of the audio transformers has been replaced with a smaller, more modern unit. It will require wiring the tube panel back into place and mounting it on new rubber isolation strips.
The mahagony cabinet is in original finish and presentable as is. There are some paint spills on top and one side along with some minor scratches that could use attention. Only thing missing is one binding post and nut assembly.Serial number 93893 and made in the East Springfield, Mass works. It measures approx 10\" X 6.5\" X 9.5\" deep and very well packed shipping weight will be 12 pounds from zip code 24012.
