Not your average band Reel Big Fish is comprised of Aaron Barrett (vocals/guitar), Matt Wong (bass), Andrew Gonzales (drums), Tavis Werts (trumpet), Scott Klopfenstein (trumpet, vocals), Grant Barry (trombone), and Dan Regan (trombone). Originally starting out as pop rock, the band grew to include a trumpet section which set them apart as a ska band. Being at the right place at the right time, the Southern California group inched into popularity when ska and punk music were beginning to catch attention.
The year 1995 marked the debut of their self released album Everything Sucks. Gleaming in the eyes of collage kids everywhere, Everything Sucks became common salutations with fans. With such underground idolism it wasn't long before recording studios came knocking on their door. The band soon signed with Jay Rifkin's Mojo Records, releasing their first major album entitled Turn the Radio Off.
Turn the Radio Off garnered fans by the groups incessant touring. When 1997 rolled around the single "Sell Out" began making radio play. Stations across the United States were playing the song constantly with the urge of fans all over. MTV picked up the song only to give it more acclaim and a deserved gold push into the billboards top 100. Having toured with the likes of Kiss, The Cure, and the Blues brothers, it comes as no surprise that the band flourished in popularity and racked up Bammie awards from local magazines. The release of Keep Your EP in 1997, was followed by Why Do They Rock So Hard a year later. Following true to form Reel Big Fish released Everything Sucks in 2000. Happy bubbly and always sarcastic Reel Big fish won fans over with their never changing "Reel" passion for music.
