"Alive" Pearl Jam Ten TCB Graham Jorgenson/GrahamJ1@aol.com
This is one of the greatest songs of all time in terms of originality and from the technical aspect as well. It's exceedingly complex and tough to imitate. Lots of attempts at this song come up as fair imitation, but this is as exact as it's gonna get. If you're a starting guitarist this is a great song to learn mainly because of the guitar solo. Practicing that solo gives you a hell of a mental library of solo material. If you're new you're gonna have a hell of a time getting those chords down especially ones that span across 3 or 4 frets. Well don't fret, because practice makes perfect. If you have any questions e-mail at GrahamJ1@aol.com.
Key:
s = slide h = hammer p = pull off x = pick scrapes ~ = vibrato bh = 1/2 step bend and hold br = 1/2 step bend and release BH = Full step bend and hold BR = Full step bend release b = Bend single note/no hold/release 1/2 step B = Bend single note/no hold/release full step [B]= Bend 2 whole steps. / = Bend BEFORE you pluck note (ex. 14/BH) (x) = note as a result of bend release or ring

Guitar Solo: (Mild Distortion and EGDA going quietly in the background)
CD min/sec placed to make it easier to learn. This solo is best learned by learning without the bends first, and adding on as you master it. You need a wha-pedal to make it sound authentic, but you can add some sliding and crap to try and imitate it. I personally don't have a wha, but it's fun as hell to play anyway. There is one note in this solo which is bent 2 steps and it is identified by a [B] as in 20/[B]. If any of this doesn't seem right to you e-mail me and I'll check it out. I have gone over and over this and I would swear that it's exact.
