at gothegoatee@sbcglobal.net Tuning: 1/8 step above standard
tuning Key: C# I have two versions of the intro. They both
sound the same, the fingering is the only difference. So whichever one works better
for you is just fine, they are interchangeable. Intro (version 1) Play this two
times Only play the (4) on the repeat e|------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------------------------| A|--6-8-9-8-6-8--6-8-9-8-6-4---6-8-9-8-6-9--8-6-4-3-(4)-| E|------------------------------------------------------| or you can use... Intro (version 2) Play this two
times Only play the (9) on the repeat e|------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------------------------| A|--6-8-9-8-6-8--6-8-9-8-6----6-8-9-8-6-9--8-6----------| E|-------------------------9-------------------9-8-(9)--| You can decide for yourself where you want
to put the slides/hammer-ons/pull-offs in the intro, it really doesn't matter that
much. Chorus: For the melody guitar, just play the intro
over the vocals, you can hear where it goes. As for the chords... I feel you falling away, I
feel you falling away, e|------------------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-6----------------------------------------------------------------| D|-6-------------------------------4--------------------------------| A|-4-------------------------------4--------------------------------| E|---------------------------------2--------------------------------| I feel you falling away from me
again... e|--------------------------------------------| B|--------------------------------------------| G|-6------------------------------------------| D|-6-------------------------------6----------| A|-4-------------------------------6----------| E|---------------------------------4----------| Part just after 2nd chorus run: (1:56 -
2:10) Melody If we can make this...
Then we can break it... e|----------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------------------------------| G|----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|----------------------------------------------------------------------| A|--8-6-4-6-8--6---------------------------8-6-4-6-8--4-----------------| E|----------------------------------------------------------------------| If we can build it...
Then we can burn it down... e|----------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------------------------------| G|----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|----------------------------------------------------------------------| A|--8-6-4-6-8--6---------------------8-6-4-6-8--4-----------------------| E|----------------------------------------------------------------------| Chords to this part: If we can make this...
Then we can break it... e|----------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------------------------------| G|----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|--8\6\4/6-8--6---------------------------8\6\4/6-8--4-----------------| A|--8\6\4/6-8--6---------------------------8\6\4/6-8--4-----------------| E|--x\x\x/x-x--x---------------------------x\x\x/x-x--x-----------------| The above chords part gets played two times
through obviously. Just follow the lead guitar with it and you'll be good to go. You
don't have to mute the low E string if you don't want. In that case you could use
the standard power chords, Drop-D power chords, or you could even tune the low
E-string 1/8 step above C# and have a nice low root bass always there. I'd recommend
the third out of those three, then for the rest of the chords in the song you could
just leave the low E string open and explore some different chord voicings. Chorus at key change: (Key is now a full
step up to D#) e|----------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------------------------------| G|----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|----------------------------------------------------------------------| A|--8-10-11-10-8-10--8-10-11-10-8----8-10-11-10-8-11--10-8--------------| E|-------------------------------11-----------------------11-10-(11)----| Obviusly you'd just play the same chords for
the chorus as before, just two frets up then before. Since a synthesizer or something like that
backs the verses and not guitar, you really can't do much guitar over them anyway except
for once you hear them come in with the guitars themselves. Here's the best I've got
so far... Verse 1: And tonight we burn down everything,
We worked so hard to build... e|------------------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------------------| G|--------------------------------------------6---------------------| D|------4------------------6------------------6---------------------| A|------4------------------6------------------4---------------------| E|------2------------------4----------------------------------------| The ashes will rain down on me, memories
set aflame sail away... e|----------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------------------------------------------------------| G|----6---------------------------------------------------------------6-| D|----6---------------------------------4---------------6-------------6-| A|----4---------------------------------4---------------6-------------4-| E|--------------------------------------2---------------4---------------| What we said, if we can make this, than we
can break this into two memories e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|--------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|-----------6--------------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------6-----------------------------------------------------4------6-| A|-----------4-----------------------------------------------------4------6-| E|-----------------------------------------------------------------2------4-| All of the verses follow that same formula
so that covers all the verses. I tried to line up the syllables with the timing, but
ultimately you're better off listening to them for yourself. Same with the chords, I
only put where the chord change goes because I don't want to put a gazillion chords to
confuse you when you'll just have to end up figuring it out yourself anyway. I would
probably use either a light palm muted strum or a harmonic melody in an alternate tuning
when the synthesizer takes over and I'd recommend a combination of reverb, delay,
and no distortion. Hopefully I'll have the full plain chord
version of this song up soon ^_^ Return to my Good
